Fast dissolving tissue- EasyFlush

Toilet systems whose operation is based on negative-pressure are used on aeroplanes, trains, and ships, but they are sensitive to malfunctions. The amount of water used in flushing is so small that urolith collects on the walls of the drainage pipes. Urolith makes the inner surface of the pipes rough, which causes solid matter from poorly dissolving paper products to stick to them. A flush uses only a few decilitres of water, so just one used paper towel in the piping system can be enough to block it at critical points, namely the branching parts of toilet bowls and the valve of the outlet pipe. Undissolved paper products can also block the filter in the wastewater container or, when the container is emptied, the outlet pipe.

Special Products for Special Conditions

Normal tissue paper should not be used in negative-pressure systems. Special conditions set special requirements for the dissolution qualities of paper. The risk of used paper towels ending up in the toilet bowl is high, as the sanitary facilities on public transport are usually small and the hand-washing basin is situated in the same space as the toilet system. The paper towels in the Katrin EasyFlush® range disintegrate into much finer particles than other tissue papers do. This reduces the risk of blockages. The paper begins to dissolve sooner, and the whole dissolution process takes only about half the time it does with normal paper products. Cost savings are created through a reduction in expensive maintenance jobs. The products are firm and perform well, giving users uncompromised comfort.

Sensitive Drain Systems in Buildings

The new product range should be used mainly in the sanitary facilities of public transport vehicles, but it is also recommendable that quickly dissolving paper products be used in other drain systems that are sensitive to malfunctions. One risk group consists of the drain systems in old parts of cities. These systems can be difficult to locate and are often near the end of their service lives. Also, the water-saving toilet bowls in newly constructed buildings can reduce the flow of water in the drains enough to increase the risk of blockages. Quickly dissolving toilet papers and paper towels can serve as a solution to this problem.

The Products Dissolving More Quickly and Completely

The new products on the market are made of quickly dissolving material: the Katrin Non Stop 2 and Katrin C-fold 2 paper towels, and the Katrin Toilet 300 toilet paper. All these products have been manufactured using specialised technology. The texture and composition of the products meet the users’ needs, while the facilities’ needs are met through a more rapid and complete breakdown of the paper than that seen with conventional tissue products. The paper towels are also the right size to fit in the integrated toilet facilities equipped with fixed dispensers that can be found on most public transport vehicles.
