Transportation
At Metsä Tissue, environmentally friendly transport has long been part of our environmental agenda. We gather our raw materials from as close to our mills as possible. Our mills are close to the market benefiting from short transport distances and therefore causing less emissions. We work only with transport companies that are either ISO certified or at an advanced stage in the certification process.
We develop our environmental programme in co-operation with transport companies and individual customers, and prioritise the methods of transport that are less harmful for the environment such as rail. In fact, internal transport between Metsä Tissue’s mills is handled by rail.
The majority of our products are transported on CHEP pallets that are part of the CHEP re-use system, or by national re-use systems created for transport pallets. Broken pallets are used as energy waste at our mills.
